Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Rice Law, PLLC
Rice Law recognizes that the needs of our clients don’t stop. The uncertainty associated with this virus seems to only heighten the anxiety already felt by many of our clients involved in family law, personal injury, and appellate litigation.
Our office remains open although some of our employees are working remotely. We are happy to accommodate your needs via a telephone call or web conference (i.e. Skype).
Late Friday of last week, the North Carolina Judicial Branch announced that our courts, with certain exceptions, would postpone cases for the next 30 days. We are still learning exactly how this affects our clients involved in litigation and it appears that each county may approach the issue a bit differently. Certain issues such as domestic violence protection orders are being addressed. In other cases, proceedings are being conducted remotely.
Also, it appears that the Courts remain open to accept and file documents such that deadlines are not presently being extended or tolled. However, in most cases, the court is unable to schedule the matter.
The situation is fluid and could change quickly. We will continue monitoring the situation and keep you updated as we know more.
Thank you and we will update our website as more information comes available.
